Remembering the Past and Believing in the Future…
The Board of Directors and The Managing Directors, the common thread of
personnel throughout the 125 year of caring for the elderly.
The Board of Directors of The Baptist Home Society along with the Managing Directors from each of
the Member Churches have served tirelessly to carry out our mission of caring for the elderly.
For the past 125 years, the Board of Directors and Managers have been the common thread of
this endeavor, the fidelity to our mission, and the bond that has shepherded us from 1891 to today.
It is this faithful commitment of “providing the highest level of care within the context of a loving
Christian community” that will take us from today, 2015, and into the future.
Three Icons of the Baptist Home circa 1891-1910
• This framed picture, taken 90 years ago, represents the Baptist Home as it looked in its
beginning years at 285 Roseville Ave. in Newark, NJ.
• The large leather bound book is over 120 years old and is the official “Register of Inmates,”
This book recorded the names, birth dates and date of death of those persons cared for at
the Baptist Home from 1881 to 1889.
• Atop the “Register of Inmates” sits the original Corporate Seal of the Baptist Home Society,
circa 1881.
